Suspect Arrested in Varsity Market Robbery

Jackson police have caught the man they believe robbed the Varsity Market on May 12. According to investigators, Paul Cheairs, 19, of Jackson, was arrested Saturday around 9 a.m. in connection with the armed robbery. Cheairs was arraigned Monday morning in Jackson City Court. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail on $75,000 bond. Investigators said Cheairs walked into the convenience store on Oil Well Road with a gun just before 11:00 p.m. on May 12 and demanded money from the clerk. Cheairs is scheduled to return to court May 31.
