YMCA Celebrating 155th Anniversary

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Family YMCA celebrated a very special milestone, Thursday. This year marks the 155th anniversary for the Y, whose mission is to nurture the potential in kids, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. During the celebration, photos and memorabilia from the agency were displayed for visitors to see. Leaders of the group said they are planning a face-lift for its facility on Campbell Street in east Jackson. “This facility opened in the early 70’s,” said Robin Baker, CEO. “We’ve had a couple of renovations. But we’re getting ready now to update our front.” Baker added the changes will give the building more “curb appeal.” Organizers said Thursday’s event was just the first in several celebrations.
