Cotton Fashions Shown off in Milan

MILAN, Tenn.-Who needs to go all the way to Milan, Italy for a fashion show, when there are models walking the runway in Milan in Gibson County. Thursday, the National Cotton Women’s Committee hosted its 35th annual fashion show, featuring clothing made of what else, but cotton. The show was part of the UT Ag Research and Education Center’s 50th anniversary. Organizers said they hope the event will show the versatility of cotton and encourage others to work with the material. “Cotton creates all these jobs besides the agricultural products you have the marketers you have the mills, you have just everything you can think of,” said Pat Hargett, organizer of the fashion show. 28 models ranging from ages 2 through 82 modeled clothes for the event.
