Escapee Caught after Decade on the Run
The Madison County Sheriff‘s Department said a man who did not return from work release over a decade ago is back behind bars Stephen Guinn Williams, Jr., 34, was arrested in Rutherford on Saturday by the United States Marshal‘s Regional Task Force. According to Sheriff David Woolfork, an investigation showed that Williams, who was serving time for Driving Under the Influence-2nd Offense and Driving on a Revoked License, on the morning of November 21, 2000, left the Penal Farm for work release and failed to return at the end of the day. Williams has formally been charged with Escape; Violation of Probation from General Sessions Court-Division I for Driving Under the Influence-2nd Offense and Driving on a Revoked License; and Probation of Violation from Circuit Court, Division III for Facilitation of Aggravated Robbery and Driving Under the Influence-1st Offense. Arraignments have not been scheduled and no bond has been set for Williams at this time. The Madison County Sheriff‘s Office and Jackson Police Department currently have investigators assigned to the United States Marshal‘s Regional Task Force who assisted in this arrest.
