“Books of Madison County” Fundraiser
Supporters of the Jackson-Madison County Library held a fundraiser in downtown Jackson, Thursday night that was definitely worth “reading into.” The event was called “The Books of Madison County” and was held at the Painted Lady restaurant, next door to the library. In addition to food, music and entertainment, the event also showcased several of Jackson and West Tennessee’s best authors who signed their works for those who attended. Organizers of this first-ever event said the Jackson-Madison County Library is a gem that everyone in the community needs to support. “The library plays such an important role in the community anyway. It’s the center for activities, groups meet there, individuals meet there. The children’s program’s are just fantastic,” said Elaine Christian, chairperson for the Books of Madison County event. “The Tennessee Room has a lot of genealogy information. So, there are so many needs and the foundation wanted to put together this event to help raise money to assist the library in that effort.” Organizers said proceed form the event will allow the library to purchase books and needed materials.
