JACKSON, Tenn. – Community Health Systems, which owns the Regional Hospital of Jackson, announced a merger with Health Management Associates, Wednesday. Community Health Systems also owns six other West Tennessee hospitals. 71 hospitals, including nine in Middle and East Tennessee, are owned by Health Management Associates. With the completion of this deal, Community Health Systems will own or operate approximately 206 hospitals in 29 states, with a total bed count of more than 31,000.
