Shelby County school to get TVA grant for software

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A Shelby County elementary school has been awarded a grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority to help implement new software in classrooms.

Shelby County school officials say representatives from the TVA will present a $1,000 check to Double Tree Elementary School on Aug. 12.

The money will go toward the implementation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related software in the school’s classrooms. The software, provided by WeatherBug Schools, offers advanced weather technology and interactive classroom tools.

LaKeisha Smith, a fifth-grade teacher at Double Tree, secured the grant after submitting a proposal explaining how students will benefit from using WeatherBug.
