Former Nashville teacher facing sex charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A one-time elementary school teacher in Nashville has been charged with 25 counts of sexual exploitation of minors.

A grand jury indicted 57-year-old Douglas Jett of Smyrna on Monday. WSMV-TV in Nashville reported (http://bit.ly/1wCf87b ) that Jett became the subject of a child porn investigation last month after a co-worker at A.Z. Kelley Elementary School discovered pornographic items on Jett’s school-issued laptop.

Police say Jett later told a detective that he had been using the computer to download thousands of images of child pornography for years.

Jett retired from Metro school Sept. 26 after being placed on leave. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Jett had been an employee of school district since 1985 and a teacher at A.Z. Kelley since 2006.
