Land Between Lakes being replanted with daffodils
GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) – More than seven years after a construction project displaced daffodils at Land Between the Lakes, officials are asking the public to help bring them back.
Volunteers are being asked to plant bulbs Nov. 1 through 23, during peak planting time for daffodils. Nov. 15 has also been set aside as a volunteer work day to plant more than 700 bulbs.
Anyone interested should contact Master Gardener Jan Culwell at (270) 924-0363 or janculwellbellsouth.net. Culwell advises wearing comfortable clothes and bringing planting tools.
Anyone wanting to work on their own during the other days for planting will find areas to be planted marked with orange pin flags. Contact Culwell for more information.
The daffodil bulbs were displaced during the U.S. 68/80 highway construction project in March 2007.
