Mt. Juliet businesses evacuated after gas leak
MT. JULIET, Tenn. (AP) – Fire officials have evacuated seven businesses after construction equipment ruptured a gas line in Mt. Juliet.
The Mt. Julie Police Department told WSMV-TV in Nashville (http://bit.ly/1w8WSCA ) that the 2-inch gas line was struck by a backhoe around 9 a.m. CDT Monday behind the Valley Center Strip Mall.
Officials say the gas line was shut off by 10 a.m. and those who were evacuated are able to return to the area.
Crews with Piedmont Natural Gas were working to repair the line.
