Rivera confirmed as US attorney for Middle Tenn.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – David Rivera has been confirmed as U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Rivera has been acting U.S. attorney since April 2013 and has been an assistant U.S. attorney in the office since 2004.

Rivera’s office announced the U.S. Senate confirmation in a news release Friday. He was confirmed Tuesday.

President Barack Obama nominated Rivera to fill the post permanently in June, replacing Jerry Martin.

Rivera also worked in the U.S. attorney’s office in the District of Puerto Rico, from 1999 to 2004. He was an assistant state attorney in Broward County, Florida, from 1994 to 1999 and an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, New York, from 1988 to 1993.
