Vanderbilt rape case defendant: No memory of any assault
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A former Vanderbilt football player being tried for rape told a jury Monday that he was drunk and has no memory of a dorm room sexual assault that prosecutors say he and three of his teammates carried out.
Corey Batey testified that he was horrified when he saw on his cellphone explicit photos of him and a woman he’d never met before.
Batey was a 19-year-old who had just come out of his freshman year when he and three of his teammates were charged with raping an unconscious student in a dorm on the Nashville campus in June 2013.
Batey and Brandon Vandenburg are on trial this week. Two other former players have not gone to trial yet.
All four have pleaded not guilty.
