Auto parts supplier to expand, add 435 jobs over 5 years
NEWPORT, Tenn. (AP) – Middle Tennessee auto parts supplier Unipres USA Inc. has announced plans for an expansion that will lead to 435 more jobs over the next five years.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/18hNWmB) reports the expansion at the Portland facility is expected to add 32,000 square feet of space to the existing structure to house two new transfer presses and one blanking press.
Unipres, which has been located in Portland since 1987, currently employs 600 to 700 workers.
Gov. Bill Haslam said the announcement shows that the state has continued strength in advanced manufacturing.
