Arkansas hunting club bookkeeper gets over 1 year in prison

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – An Arkansas hunting club’s bookkeeper has been sentenced to more than a year in prison after pleading guilty to defrauding the club of more than $540,000.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/1JUajiC ) reports 58-year-old Hazel Cathy Wadley of Memphis, Tennessee, was sentenced Thursday to 18 months in prison before a federal judge in Tennessee. She has pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Edward Stanton Ill’s office says Wadley must serve three years of supervised release once she completes her prison sentence. She also must pay $301,000 in restitution to Menasha Hunting and Fishing Club in Turrell, Arkansas.

Wadley also must pay $237,000 to Menasha’s insurance company.

Wadley admitted that between 2007 and 2013 she used funds in Menasha’s bank account to make online payments for personal debts and expenses.
