1 injured in highway shooting in Middle Tennessee

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A sheriff says deputies are investigating a shooting between two men driving along a highway in Middle Tennessee.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office told media that a man reported driving south on Highway 48-13 early Tuesday when a car pulled up behind him and tapped his vehicle causing it to stall. He told deputies that when he pulled over to the side of the road, he was shot at and returned fire, hitting the other person.

Deputies say the man in the other car drove off, but pulled over a short time later and fell out of the car. Emergency crews that responded took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The other man refused medical treatment.
