JACKSON, Tenn.– A late night argument between two men quickly turns into a melee and police say it is all because of a disagreement over $25. Chaos breaks out in a West Jackson neighborhood. “(A) couple subjects got into an argument over a debt that was owed at some point. During the argument the subjects began to fight each other and then family members and other people joined in on the fight ,” Captain Mike Landreth said. Jackson Police said once they arrived at Foxlea Drive after 10 p.m. Tuesday night, the melee stopped and everyone began to run into the darkness and into surrounding neighborhoods. Several neighbors WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News spoke with said they are too afraid to go on camera. “Generally in something like this you can’t get cooperation. We really didn’t have anything to work with we ask people in the area if they want to get involved to give us some information we can follow up on it,” Landreth said. Police said it all started over a dispute of $25 and that this fight does not seem to be gang related. Police said it is hard to investigate something like this. Lt. Mike Johnson with Crimestoppers said it is because people simply do not want to get involved. ” A lot of people don’t want to talk to the police so if you feel uncomfortable. If you’re afraid they will come back and get you and retaliate that’s what crime stoppers is here for,” Johnson said. Only one person was reported hurt in the fight, but police say they refused to be treated by multiple paramedics on scene. Police said any information will help to hold those responsible. ” Call 424-8477. It’s 24 hours a day. No one is going to ask for your name and hopefully you get a cash reward for your information,” Johnson said. Police said extra patrols have been ordered for the affected neighborhoods over the next few days.
