JACKSON, Tenn.–Today the Jackson-Madison County school system honors one of its best and most hard working… With the Teacher of the Year award. Teachers and students gathered at the Carl Perkins Civic Center for the annual luncheon. It was Northeast Middle School teacher Chris Nye who took home the Teacher of the Year honor. “I’ve always felt like I was a name and a face on a school on a classroom that has wonderful students, wonderful leadership. I can’t do what I do without their presence,” said Nye. But he said this award is not just for him. “It’s a really wonderful honor but I think about all the other teachers that are in this room and how deserving they are of this honor as well.” 26 other teachers were recognized for their hard work this past school year.
