MARTIN, Tenn. — A Martin man is recovering in the hospital after police say he shot himself in the chest. Martin police were called to a home on Elm Street just after 12:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a gunshot. Investigators say when they arrived on the scene they found the victim lying on his living room floor. After interviewing the victim and going through evidence, officers say they determined no one else was involved in the shooting. “I do believe that he intentionally shot himself,” Martin Police Chief Don Teal said. “What his reasons were I don’t know, but we do believe that it was self inflicted and it was not accidental.” Investigators say a revolver was recovered at the scene, and the incident is still under investigation.
