JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents in Jackson said a crash late Tuesday night was bound to happen because they see so many speeders on their street. Jackson police said speeding caused a car to flip on Old Humboldt Road, ejecting the engine from under the hood before catching fire. Residents said they saw the driver take off on foot before emergency crews arrived. One resident said she is afraid to allow her children to play outside. “I just feel like we’re left out, especially with the speed limit signs on here,” resident Karen Burgess said. “Drivers don’t do the 30-mile-per-hour speed zone like they should.” Residents said they frequently call Jackson police for extra speed patrols on their street but understand officers cannot catch every dangerous driver.
