Weather Update – 11:30 p.m. Friday

A few isolated showers were still falling in the Mid-South tonight but most of West Tennessee was dry with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will drop to the upper 60s and lower 70s tonight with portions of West Tennessee becoming mostly clear. Patchy fog may develop before sunrise at 6:19 a.m. Saturday. More showers and thunderstorms are likely for the start of the weekend with a potential for one or two strong thunderstorms in the Mid-South tomorrow afternoon. However, it’s not a washout all weekend long – there’s drier weather coming on Sunday!

THIS WEEKEND
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop Saturday morning and afternoon in West Tennessee. Some thunderstorms could be strong especially during the late morning and afternoon. By the early evening, thunderstorms will begin to dissipate and should become weaker with time. If any thunderstorms become severe tomorrow, the main concern is for heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding and damaging winds that could gust up to 60 mph in the strongest storms. To reiterate, very few parts of West Tennessee will encounter storms like this – the risk for widespread severe weather is low – but one or two thunderstorms with this strength are possible.

NEXT WEEK
The front is forecast to push south and out of the area on on Sunday morning. This should give us a chance to see the sunset with rain-free weather on Sunday evening as skies clear out! Cooler and less humid air will start pushing in on Monday and Tuesday allowing temperatures to drop to levels we don’t typically see until mid-September! The drop in humidity will be short lived with Wednesday featuring a return to humid conditions and warmer temperatures. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the latest forecast!

Have a wonderful weekend!
