Two Round of Storms in the Forecast, Cooler to Start Next Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We will stay dry this evening but rain chances start Thursday morning. Anything in the morning should be light, but as the day goes on, the threat for storms will be increasing. As of now, all of West Tennessee is under a marginal risk (1/5). An upgrade to a 2 seems possible, especially in our northern counties. Gusty winds will be the main threat with any storms that develop. Friday is going to be a hot transitional day between systems as another round of rain storms is looking likely on Saturday before much cooler weather moves in on Sunday. The cooler weather will not last long but will stick around to kick off next week. Catch the latest on it all coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
Rain is not in the forecast to start the work week, but will be returning later this week and again this weekend. We really do need the rain so let’s hope we get some without any severe weather. Storms are looking probable on Thursday and again this weekend but the severity of the threat is still being determined as of now. Thursday does not look like a huge severe event for us but, the system this weekend might be something we need to keep a closer eye on.
Great weather showed up again on Wednesday for all of West Tennessee. Highs reached the mid to maybe upper 80s and we saw see plenty of sunshine as well. There were some clouds moving in on Wednesday and will move in as the night goes on. Morning lows were well above average too, hanging around the mid 60s. The winds were light and came out of the south and will stay that way tonight. Rain is not in the forecast this evening but by the time the sun comes up on Thursday, some showers will be moving in.

Our best shot for rain during the workweek is coming in on Thursday. Some storms are looking possible late in the day, the severe weather threat appears to be on the low side at this time as all of West Tennessee is under a 1/5 (marginal risk). We will keep a close eye on the setup as the front system gets closer during the day as a few gusty wind storms could pop up in the evening and early night time hours. Chances for rain sit at 80% and hopefully we all see a good soaking because we really do need the rain as the drought situation is getting worse by the day. Highs will reach the low 80s and the winds will stay out of the south. The front itself will not pass through so do not expect to cool off until the weekend.

Friday morning lows will start out in the low to mid 60s depending on if the clouds on Thursday will linger into the morning. By the afternoon, sunny skies will return and highs will get very close to 90°. We have not hit 90° since October 1st, almost 200 days ago. Friday night is going to be warm as well with overnight lows falling down to only around 70°. Friday will likely be the warmest day of the year so far for most of us.
THIS WEEKEND:
Another round of showers and storms appears to be on the way for Saturday. Storms are looking likely at this time but the severe weather situation is still being determined and we should know more later during the week. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday with rain chances starting in the afternoon and continuing into the evening hours. The winds will start out of the southwest but will turn to the northwest by Sunday morning. Unlike Thursday’s system, the front will actually move through this time cooling things off a bit for Sunday.
Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 80s but we may struggle to even make it up to 70° on Sunday. Saturday night temperatures will fall down to around 50° but mid 40s are expected Sunday night. Sunday night will be the coolest weather we have seen in a couple weeks by the time it gets here. The northerly winds will not last long though as a southeast breeze will look to return by next Monday.
