Alamo man charged with murder appears for arraignment
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Alamo man charged with the murder of a Crockett County resident appeared in court Friday for an arraignment hearing.
Kenny Evans was arrested and charged with first-degree murder of Ashley Clem in April 2021. Evans had a prior record.
He was arrested in 2010 and charged with the murder of his neighbor. He pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a gun charge in March of 2012.
In December of 2020, he was released from prison.
District Attorney General Fredrick Agee says they are seeking the death penalty for Evans.
“We’ve given Mr. Evans the death penalty notification because of his violent prior history, and the heinous act that he has recently committed in Crockett County,” Agee said.
Evans is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 14.
