Combat Vets work to give children a joyful Christmas
JACKSON, Tenn. — With Christmas steadily approaching, some of Santa’s helpers are lending a hand.
The Combat Vets of Jackson are hosting their 5th annual Children of Veterans event this season.
Kids who participate in this event are sponsored by veterans and are gifted $200 to go on a shopping spree at their local Walmart.
Zack Edwards, the chapter commander, says the event has grown drastically in the five years.
He says the number of kids participating has grown from four to 75.
Members of the Combat Vets say this event is rewarding for everyone involved.
“It is a lot of work that goes into it. A lot of people to make this a success and just the joy on their faces make everything so worth it,” said Rachael Schatzi, Chapter PR Commander for Combat Vets.
