1 injured, 1 arrested after shooting in Milan

MILAN, Tenn. — One person was injured and another was arrested after a shooting in Milan on Friday.

Kenneth Cook Jr. was taken into custody on charges of attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

According to a warrant, the Milan Police Department responded to Anderson Street on the evening of May 19 in reference to shots fired.

The warrant states that upon arrival, officers were notified that a male victim was personally transported to the Milan ER after being struck by gunfire.

According to the warrant, officers were able to identify the shooter as Kenneth Cook Jr., who was taken into custody at the scene.

The warrant says that Cook stated he had been in an argument with the victim, who started to leave the scene in his vehicle, but then allegedly stopped the vehicle, exited, and proceeded to “come at” Cook “in a fast manner,” grabbing at his waist band.

The warrant says Cook stated that’s when he fired several rounds at the individual, striking him in the arm and leg.

Cook was booked into the Gibson County Jail, and records available online indicate he has since bonded out.

A court date has been set for May 31 in the Milan General Sessions Court.
