Back in November of 2021, a groundbreaking marked the beginning work on Bicentennial Park, which is located at the corner of Main Street and Lafayette Street.
The committee reports that phase one of construction has started with the installation of the wall.
“The Bicentennial Park wall is more than just bricks and mortar,” said Elaine Christian, Bicentennial Chair. “It’s a living monument to our shared history and marks the beginning of the construction of our park. The park will stand as a testament to the unity and resilience of our community across two
centuries and set the stage for the future.”

The committee reports that the next steps for the park include groundwork and artwork installation.
The park will house historical markers, a sculpture, a time capsule, and more. The time capsule was buried in the park already, on August 13, 2022.
