Henderson farmers market opens for season

Market on Church Street will run every Friday through October.

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – The Henderson farmers market opened for the growing season.

The market is located on Church Street near the intersection at Highway 45. It is open on Fridays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market will be open every Friday through October, rain or shine.

Visitors can find sourdough baked goods, farm fresh eggs and meat products. Other vendors had produce starter plants, spring flowers and houseplants.

“Most people in the community, even leadership didn’t think it was a community that would support a farmers market, but we’ve definitely proved people wrong on that,” Steve Rickman, Chester County Director for UT Extension said. “The location is great, so we get a lot of natural traffic. The people in the community are really what have made this farmers market be successful.”

The market offers some craft vendors, but as harvests begin later this year, they will be phased out for more produce options.
