FEMA offers assistance for January winter storm victims

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — FEMA is inviting anyone impacted by the January winter storm to apply for assistance.

The winter storm caused damage throughout the region. The federal emergency management agency is now accepting applications from eligible residents.

Applicants need to have necessary information including ZIP code, social security number, insurance information and contact information for the application.

Once complete, FEMA will share an application number and a registration number so applicants can track the progress of their application.

“I know there are people out there that suffered damage, whether it was to your home, whether it was loss of food as a result of power outages, whether it was loss of wages, whatever the situation was that you were faced with, even some that I haven’t mentioned. Now is the time to come and talk to these people. They’re the experts. They have the programs, and the help is available so we can get these people back on their feet,” said Steve Deaton, EMA director for Henderson County.
