Regional Olympic Development Program soccer trials land in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Coaches from the Tennessee Olympic Development Program held district trials at North Park Sunday for middle and high school boys and girls. Officials said there were kids from Jackson as well as Dyersburg, Chester county, and other parts of West Tennessee. “We try and identify the kids in the local area that have the ability to step in and play for the state team hopefully and compete for a regional spot and hopefully a national spot,” Ted Bartels said, a coach with the Tennessee State Soccer Association. Officials say this is the first time the district trials have ever been held in Jackson.
