Weather Update – 10:50 p.m. Monday
Temperatures are dropping fast across West Tennessee. At last check it was 15°F in Jackson with teens for everyone except for Memphis. They’re on their way to teens too. This will be the coldest night of Winter so far with low teens for most of West Tennessee early Tuesday.
Skies will become cloudy during the day on Tuesday with high temperatures at or just above freezing. Late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, a wintry mix of rain, ice, and some snow, will begin moving into West Tennessee. Right now, it looks like the impacts will be minor since we’re not expecting a lot of sticking snow or ice for much of the area. Plus, the amount that is forecast to stick is relatively low.
All snow and ice should melt during the later hours of Wednesday morning as temperatures warm up above freezing.
The next event to watch will take place from Thursday night into Friday as rain moves through the Mid-South, but changes to snow just before dawn on Friday. It’s still too early to tell how much snow will stick, and confidence on whether we see snow or not isn’t sound yet.
