15-year-old runway charged with multiple felonies following shooting
DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Police say a teenager is being charged with multiple felonies following a shooting on Monday.
According to the Dyersburg Police Department, officers responded to the area of Hornbrook Street around 3:30 p.m. on October 23, after being alerted by a Flock Safety Raven gunshot detection device of gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, DPD says officers discovered that a house had been struck by gunfire.
Dyersburg Police say the investigation determined that two armed individuals were outside of the residence when one of the suspects fired a gun striking the residence.
According to police, there were multiple people inside the residence, including several young children. Police confirm no injuries were reported.
Police say the shooter was identified as a runaway 15-year-old from Dyersburg, and officers located the juvenile hiding in a closet of a residence late Monday night in east Dyersburg.
According to police, the juvenile was taken into custody without incident, and is also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, vandalism over $1,000, and runaway.
Police confirm the juvenile is being held in detention pending a hearing in Dyer County Juvenile Court.
DPD states the identity of the second individual is unknown, and the case remains under investigation.
