Jackson State nursing students undergo mock disaster drill

JACKSON, Tenn. — From explosions to active shooters, when tragedy comes, they’ll have you covered.

Jackson State Community College’s nursing students underwent a mock disaster on Monday.

This allowed the students to learn how to perform medical care in the event that there was a school shooting.

20 students participated in the drill — 18 of them were part of the injured crew, and two of them were bystanders.

Jackson Police Department, JPD SWAT team and the Madison County Fire Department were participants as well during this drill.

“If we don’t learn it, train and practice with people who do it for a living, then we’ll never do it well,” said Associate Professor of Nursing Cassie Revelle.

The mock drill is held each semester for nursing students.
