Body found near Parsons identified as missing man

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — A body discovered last week north of Parsons has been identified.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the body has been identified as Kyle Dixon of Knox County.

Investigator Stephen Whitlock confirms Dixon was reported missing on December 9, 2023.

Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, the sheriff’s office received a report of an unidentified object in a pond around the 2100 block of Highway 641 North.

Whitlock says the body was spotted by a truck driver passing through the area.

The sheriff’s office, along with Parsons Police Department, responded to the scene and contacted the District Attorney and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The body was sent to Nashville for an autopsy, and Whitlock says the results have not been returned at this time. However, Whitlock confirms that it’s been determined no foul play was involved.
