Award-winning short film chronicles life of founding bishop
JACKSON, Tenn. — A short film titled ‘Charles’ brings an important story to the big screen.
‘Charles’ is based on the life of Bishop Charles H. Mason, the founder of the Church of God in Christ, headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.
The film was shot in Jackson, Humboldt, and Murfreesboro.
It was awarded the Best Director Special Award in the Eastern Europe Film Festival, and is set to compete in several different festivals.
Executive Producer and Writer, Edward Hearns shares more on the inspiration behind his project.
“I’ve been a member of the Church of God in Christ for over 25 years and, when I read this story, I was just intrigued about it and wondering why this has never been brought publicly, why the world doesn’t know about the great things that this man has done,” said Hearns.
The future goal is to find funding to create a full length feature.
