Dealership hosts food drive in celebration of model redesign
JACKSON, Tenn. — A redesign for a popular vehicle is hitting local dealership lots, and to celebrate, some of them are looking to give back to the community.
Tuesday morning, on May 21, many people from GMC gathered in Memphis to learn all about their latest release.
The 2024 GMC Acadia is designed for families and others who are in need of some more space.
Maggie Miller, the product manager for the latest model, tells us more about it.
“So this one’s got an all new architecture. So it’s now 10 inches longer than our original one which gives you that additional trunk space and additional third row leg room,” said Miller.
Some of our local GMC dealers decided they wanted to celebrate by giving back to the community.
John Dillon, Managing Partner at Express Chevrolet & GMC Brownsville, tells us what they are doing.
“So the drive is just starting. Today launches the new Acadia and we’re also gonna start it by launching the food drive. They are kind of going hand in hand. We’re using it to kick the Acadia off, but also do something positive in the community,” said Dillon.
The food drive is going to last for the next several weeks.
Dillon talks about what you need to do if you plan on helping out.
“If anybody wants to participate all they have to do is bring in any non-perishable foods, canned goods, boxed food, stuff like that. They can drop it off at our dealership. Right there in Brownsville on South Dupree,” said Dillon.
Other dealerships that are helping are the Serra Buick GMC in Jackson, their drive is going towards RIFA in Jackson, Express Chevrolet & GMC in Dyersburg will be donating to New Life Union Mission and Express Brownsville is partnering with One Safe Place.
There are a total of 10 dealerships involved with this food drive and it ends on June 20.
