Heavy rain causes posting of flash flood watches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Heavy rain has put much of West Tennessee under a flash flood watch.

The National Weather Service issued the watch Tuesday for all western counties, except those along the Mississippi border. It was in place until 7 p.m. In addition, flash flood warnings were posted for localized areas.

The southern Middle Tennessee counties of Franklin, Lincoln and Moore were under a flash flood watch through Thursday morning.

By midmorning Tuesday, NWS radar showed heavy downpours moving across the Tennessee River into Middle Tennessee. There were also thunderstorms over northern Alabama and across much of West Tennessee.
