Girl Scouts to host National S’mores Day celebration
JACKSON, Tenn. — National S’mores Day is on Saturday, August 10 and we have just the place for you to celebrate.
Girl Scouts are credited with inventing the s’more recipe printed inside the 1927 Girl Scout Guidebook ‘Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scout.’
Girl Scouts Heart of the South is inviting all girls in grades K-12 to join the fun and participate in games, crafts, and roasting marshmallows to enjoy the classic campfire treat.
The Girls Scouts mission is to build courage and confidence within their scouts, and provide them the opportunities they may not normally get to experience.
“We have our stuff here for them to make their own s’mores. We’ll even do a s’mores swap and so what that is, is a little pin. We’re big on swaps here as girl scouts, so it’s just a little pin that they can make for arts and crafts. We’re just trying to get out here in the community and we just hope that a lot of people will come out and we can celebrate S’mores Day,” said Sierra Gonzalez-Cruz, community program specialist for Girl Scouts Heart of the South.
