McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority mourn loss of former chairman James Ross

JACKSON, Tenn. — It is with deep sadness that McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport and the Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority announce the passing of James “JR” Ross, former Chairman of the Airport Authority Board and President and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare.

JR passed away Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and profound contributions to the growth and success of the airport, West Tennessee Healthcare, and the entire West Tennessee region.

James Ross served on the Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority Board for 10 years, from 2013 to 2023, and held the position of Chairman for three terms. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the future of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, helping to enhance its operations, improve infrastructure, and expand its reach. His dedication to the community was evident in every decision he made and every project he supported.

In addition to his service at the airport, JR was a well-respected leader in healthcare, serving as President and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare, where he was known for his commitment to improving healthcare services and supporting the well-being of the entire region.

Steve Smith, Executive Director of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, expressed his condolences, saying:
