A peek inside West Tennessee’s newest haunted attraction

DARDEN, Tenn. — With Halloween approaching, a new haunted attraction is opening up for the first time.

Darden Hollers: Slaughterhouse just might be one of the scariest Halloween attractions yet — or at least for WBBJ reporter Ryan Brooks as he walked through the haunt.

“The storyline was the easy part, but bringing it to life has been pretty exhausting,” said co-owner Chris Hensley. “Lots and lots of hours, lots of time, but we’re hoping that it’s going to be worth it and that everybody’s going to come in and witness something that two guys put together, and just giving back to the people.”

The owner of this haunted attraction tell us this helps give the youth a positive outlet.

“I wanted to help keep kids out of the streets, so every hour spent here is an hour out of the street,” said co-owner Jeffrey Stubblefield.

Some of the Darden Holler scare actors shared their experience playing their characters throughout this haunted storyline.

“It’s very different. I mean, just really bringing out your inner self that you wouldn’t think that you even had,” said Sitka Fuffman. “It’s most definitely just so exciting to do it, and I’ve been doing three years, so going on my fourth right now, I just love doing it.”

“For me working here is very therapeutic,” said Taigan Howell. “I get to know a lot of people, and a lot of these people become my family, and it’s just a great experience.”

They encourage guests to enter at their own risk, noting that they are not liable for any injuries. You can not touch the actors and they are not responsible for any lost items.

Darden Hollers is open September 19-November 9, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting at 7 p.m. And don’t miss their gift giveaway this Saturday for their first 10 customers.

The haunt is located at 22361 Highway 412 East in Darden. Click here for more information.
