Kirkland Cancer Center to offer free screenings, host ‘Breast Brunch Ever’

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — 1 in 8 women in the United States develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month on the way, one local cancer center has events to keep you educated and having fun.

The Kirkland Cancer Center will offer free breast cancer screenings Saturday, October 26 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the center.

You do have to secure an appointment for the screening, which you can do by calling 731-541-1742. This will be free for uninsured women.

On Sunday, October 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Kirkland Center will host the ‘Breast Brunch Ever’ at the Crown Winery where you can enjoy shopping, brunch, drinks and several guest speakers.

“On that day, women will come in and they will receive their screening at the cancer center. After that, the first 35 women that are on the schedule will be sent over to the imaging center and there they will have their mammogram. We really want to talk about that early detection and that prevention and stress that to women,” said Elizabeth Newman, marketing and community outreach manager for the KCC.

Tickets to the Breast Brunch Ever are $25 and can be purchased here.
