Making strides in the fight against Alzheimer’s

JACKSON—A group of local residents are taking strides to help those affected by Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held today in Jackson at Rockabilly’s Stadium.

The event began at 9 this morning and gave the opportunity for participants to raise not only awareness but also funds to support individuals and families affected by the disease.

The walk from the Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s support, research and more.

The event is open to all ages and there is no fee to walk.

Participants are encouraged to raise money to help support the cause.

“So certainly if people were not able to come out today or they were concerned about the weather they can still support us after the fact. They can still make a donation,” said Don Schwartz, walk manager.

The goal is to raise $72,000.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is presented annually in over 600 different communities across the nation.
