Pride in the Park event held in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.—The 5th annual Pride event was held today at the Carl Perkin’s Civic Center in Jackson.

The event had food, many vendors, local churches, nonprofits and also community members who came together to support the LGBQT+ community.

Organizers say the event helps raise money for Pride Jackson TN, whose funds later go to scholarships for graduating seniors.

“We started our scholarship fund two years ago and what we do is, you provide an essay and we grade those essays and then we award various amounts of scholarships to local students,” said Danielle Jones, Pride Committee member.

“Pride After Dark” will kick off this evening at the Civic Center.

Doors will open at 6:00 this evening and guests can enjoy a DJ, drinks, and a drag show.

While Pride in the Park is open to all ages, Pride after Dark is an 18- year-old and-up ticketed event.
