Free internet safety class keeps parents informed, kids safe

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson First Assembly is hosting an upcoming class, specifically for parents, that speaks on the dangers and risks children face on the internet.

The class will take place this Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Jackson’s First Assembly of God, located at 10-27 West Forest Avenue.

This class is for parents only, where they will learn how to monitor hidden apps that can expose children to inappropriate sites, how kids get exposed to the world of human trafficking and how to identify if children are being pulled into the dark web.

This is ahead of next week’s school assemblies at Jackson-Madison County middle and high schools where students will learn about online bullying, suicide, and sexual exploitation.

“We need to protect our kids. That’s the purpose of doing this. The kids are not going to be exposed to worship music and preaching, none of that, that’s not what this is about. This is a total focus on the welfare and wellbeing of our children,” said Garry Martin pastor for Jackson First Assembly of God.

Parents please RSVP if you want to attend by calling 731-668-5547. Programs like this are made possible by fundraising and donations. To support this initiative to keep kids safe online, and to continue to provide these services to area schools you can donate by calling 731-668-5547.
