A Rainy Weekend Ahead Of Veterans Day

Saturday Morning Update

After a nice but short break in the rain Friday, we have more rain ahead today and tomorrow. Rain will be heavy at times as a low pressure area and associated cold front moves slowly through the area into the weekend. 48 hour totals on Thursday already showed over 5 inches in some areas while just under 3 inches was recorded in Jackson. We’ll likely add another 1 to 2 inches or more by the time the rain moves out late Sunday.

This Weekend:

Showers and storms will be off and on through the day Saturday with rain heavy at times in the afternoon and a few thunder rumbles can’t be ruled out.

Veteran’s Day (Monday):

Rain will move out by late evening Sunday. Sunny, calm, and a nice temperature are excellent conditions to celebrate our Veterans. Roads may have some standing water from the rains over the weekend. Aside from that, conditions for parades and cookouts will be near perfect. Highs region wide will be in the low 70s, though the air may be a little sticky from evaporating rain water.

Tuesday:

Tuesday will be much of the same as Monday, though temperatures may be a degree or two cooler.

Wednesday:

Wednesday is the next shot at some rain for West Tennessee. These showers will be much less widespread than the showers this weekend as of the latest guidance, but still enough to warrant about a 40% chance of some showers for your location.

Final Thoughts:

Just as a reminder, as we move from Fall to Winter, the pattern will become a little more unsettled. Expect an uptick in showers and storms over the course of the season compared to the last several weeks. As always, Storm Team 7 will provide the latest forecast for you here in West Tennessee.
