Burglar Suspect Badly Injured While Jumping From Scene

JACKSON, Tenn. – A man was badly injured while allegedly burglarizing a house on early Wednesday morning. At approximately 3:30 a.m., Jackson Police officers responded to a burglar alarm call at a residence located in the 100 block of East Deaderick Street, which is a house owned by Area Relief Ministries. Officers found two broken windows at the residence and began searching for suspects and evidence. Officers located a fresh path in the dew around the house and followed it to an adjacent wooded area. According to officials, the suspect was found lying in the wooded area and complained of an injury to his leg. He was then transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital by ambulance. Apparently the suspect broke his leg when jumping from the home he burglarized. The suspect has been admitted to the hospital and had surgery to repair the broken bone. The suspect will be charged with aggravated burglary upon being released from the hospital.
