Organizations unite to feed those affected by the Selmer tornado
SELMER, Tenn.—For residents who live in Selmer, several groups are lending a hand to feed the victims of the April 3rd storm.
The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross are on location in Selmer at the McNairy County Ag Event Center preparing and serving meals daily to storm victims.
Leaders with the Salvation Army say they’re seeing first-hand the people that have been affected.
“The people coming in, they’ve been affected tremendously. Most of them have lost everything,” said Roger Fowler, Canteen Captain, Salvation Army Disasters.
“Some of them aren’t really sure where they’re gonna stay. One couple actually stayed in their house. No power, no nothing, and part of the roof gone.” Fowler added.
Organizers say they’ll remain on site in Selmer for as long as needed to help feed the victims of the storm.
