McKellar-Sipes Airport Construction Almost Complete

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- Construction on a runway at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport will be completed by Friday. The airport has been constructing a shorter cross runway since June of this year. The shorter runway will be used for smaller planes and for pilots in flying school. They are also in the process of constructing a new hanger for one of their clients. The airport will be closed on Friday to complete the construction. “We’re looking forward to Friday afternoon coming and us finishing this project and opening both of these runways back up,” Steve Smith said, the executive director for the Madison County Airport Authority The cost for the project is $1.8 million, which is $100,000 under budget.
