National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention in local anti-crime programs, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

National Night Out also sends a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and focused on taking their neighborhoods back from the criminal element that looks to tear them down.

“We’re feeling really good,” said Stephanie Graham, Public Information Officer and Community Advisor, Jackson Police. “The last three years has been a really exciting time for us. We’ve decided to host a site here at the police department — 234 Institute — you can come out. There will be a lot of food, fun, fellowship, we’ll have food trucks, there will be a lot of games, and there will be vendors.”

The Jackson Police Department is asking you and your neighborhood to get involved by turning on your porch lights that evening and having a block party in your neighborhood.
