Madison County Deputy Honored

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A Madison County Deputy was presented several distinguished awards and medals, Thursday. Asa Duncan received awards that his grandfather, Brigadier General Asa North Duncan, received in World Wars I and II while serving in the Army Air Corp, now known as the United States Air Force. Brigadier General Asa North Duncan was instrumental in starting the 8th Air Force Unit. His plane went down in 1941 over Africa. There were no survivors. He was stationed at Gunter Air Force Base, which is now known as Maxwell Air Force Base.
