Bethany Miller Announces Candidacy for Tennessee House of Representatives, District 80
Bolivar, TN — Bethany Miller, a lifelong resident of Bolivar, proudly announces her candidacy for State Representative for Tennessee House District 80 in the August 2026 election. Standing on the shoulders of her grandmother, Lois Bernice Marshall Miller, Bethany is honored to put her name on the ballot and continue a legacy of service deeply rooted in District 80.

After spending seven years pursuing higher education at the University of Iowa and Virginia State University, Miller returned home with a renewed commitment to serve the community that shaped her earliest opportunities to grow, learn, and lead.
Miller began her career in education as an assistant at Bolivar Central High School and—through dedication, hard work, and a passion for helping young people—now serves at Bolivar Elementary School. Her professional journey reflects the spirit of the “Volunteer State,” a title she holds in high regard. Beyond the classroom, her service extends deeply into community leadership, engagement, and volunteerism.
In addition to her work in education, Miller currently serves as County Commissioner for District 2 in Hardeman County, where she contributes to local governance through participation on several key county committees focused on community development, public services, and effective stewardship of county resources.
She also serves as the Vice President for the Dixie Funeral Home, where her family has been serving the community for over 79 years, further continuing a longstanding tradition of compassion and commitment.
Miller is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; the NAACP; Hardeman County Systems of Care Children’s Mental Health Coalition; the Eric Beasley Foundation; Memphis in May; the Democratic Party, where she is a member of the executive committee; the National Civil Rights Museum; and the Southwest HRA Head Start Policy Council. At her church home, Antioch Baptist Church, she serves as both a Children’s Church teacher and Director of Vacation Bible School.
Guided by her belief in strong communities and expanded opportunities for all, Bethany Miller’s campaign will focus on:
Education that Builds – Ensuring every child has access to high-quality, opportunity-creating schools.
Small Businesses that Create Growth – Strengthening local entrepreneurship and widening economic opportunity.
Health Care that Protects Families – Expanding access to affordable, reliable health services.
“With deep roots in District 80, I am running because I believe in our people, our potential, and our future,” said Miller. “Together, we can build stronger schools, support thriving small businesses, and protect the health and well-being of every family—because everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed.”
Bethany Miller looks forward to engaging with community members, listening to their concerns, and working together to find solutions that uplift District 80.
