Dyer, Tenn. — Families from across the globe celebrated World Prematurity Day, including many right here in West Tennessee. It’s a global effort by the March of Dimes to bring healthy babies into the world, where 15 million are born premature each year and a million of them die. With a preemie support and awareness page on Facebook, thousands of parents celebrated. One couple in Dyer says their daughter had a brush with death three times during her delivery. “You know to sit there and hear you know, we lost her, you know, she flat lined, wasn’t nothing I could do, but sit there and cry,” Randy Moore said, father. Maddison Analee Moore, born July 29, 2013, shares the same birthday as her dad. At only 1 pound she was born three months premature. “Because of the high blood pressure it started affecting and destroying my placenta, which of course, is her lifeline,” Alisa Moore said, mother. “That’s why they ended up having to pull her early because I couldn’t give her anything anymore.” But the Moore’s say the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit stepped in and saved their pint sized bundle of joy.
